The 2016 NW Natural Street of Dreams®, the annual luxury home event produced by the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland, will take place on Pete’s Mountain in West Linn. The event offers the unique opportunity to tour five luxury homes on the cutting edge of design and efficiency. Complete with a barrelhouse for private entertaining, and sweeping valley and vineyard views, the site serves as a haven for all visitors. The show runs daily through August 28, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“This year’s homes encompass everything from the most luxurious, high end style to sensible NW living –complete with efficient water management systems,” said Rachel Trice, vice president, membership, marketing & events, Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland. “Add to this each homes’ incredible mountain views in the background, it is truly the finest collection of homes we’ve seen yet.”

Many opportunities to be inspired

The NW Natural Street of Dreams is a popular event for visitors looking to update their own home—whether planning a new kitchen, bathroom, or a whole house. There are countless opportunities to be inspired by an overall look, a specific product or simply by the experience. The Home Builders Association connects consumers with remodelers, suppliers, and all types of housing service providers in the Portland metro area.

Energy efficiency is constantly improving

For the Home Builders Association and its members, energy efficiency is a top priority. With that in mind, each of this year’s Street of Dreams homes provides an Energy Performance Score (EPS) and feature energy efficient appliances and utilities. Unique amongst energy efficient homes is the Quintessence home; an Earth Advantage Certified Platinum home. An Earth Advantage-certified home incorporates design elements, systems and materials that create superior indoor air quality, use natural resources responsibly, protect land and lower water usage.

The Quintessence home also features efficient natural gas fireplaces in the several rooms. ““NW Natural’s Street of Dreams visitors will have the opportunity to see a variety of beautiful gas fireplaces in each home this year. The ideas will flow with a large assortment of styles installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, living rooms and outdoor living spaces,” said John Frankel, NW Natural marketing manager.  “With the simple push of a button on a remote control, these highly efficient fireplaces immediately create a relaxing, cozy and romantic atmosphere.” 

Making a difference in the community

The proceeds for the NW Natural Street of Dreams helps the the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland with the important mission to keep housing affordable for everyone in the market. In addition to working with local jurisdictions on housing affordability and other important issues, the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland works to advance issues and candidates who are pro-business and pro-housing. 

Visitors to the Street of Dreams will have the option to pay an additional $1 per ticket, for which the proceeds go directly to the Home Builders Foundation. The Foundation, the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland, builds and remodels shelters for families in our community. 

Special Events throughout the show

Throughout the month, visitors will be able to enjoy the Street Bistro; an outdoor café with snacks, meals, beverages, music, and a variety of events for the entire family:

• Chef Series (August 3, 10, 17 and 24): Visitors learn to master their own grilling skills from the professional chefs at the popular NW BBQ & Grill School while enjoying delicious samples and wine tasting.
• Celebrate Veterans Event (August 11): Free admission for current and former military members and up to three family members.
• Style at the Street (August 23): The evening features multiple fashion shows, food, wine, and entertainment.
