This Mother’s Day weekend, take the time to treat yourself at Woman Up! Feed your soul at this two-day festival with workshops and panel discussions where you can learn from Oregon’s leading ladies. And guess what brunch fans: breakfast is included!
Saturday’s Day of Wellness is presented by Cambia Health Solutions and welcomes women ages 13-103. We start the day off right with sun salutations and breakfast from Elephants Delicatessen, Imperfect Produce, and Sip Juice Cart, and then launch into workshops and panel discussions! Learn from local lady legends such as Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls, Point Gym and Kitchen, NW Dance Project, Pause Meditation, Modernist Financial, and many others! During lunch, provided by Bon Appétit
Catering, we will have keynote speakers Oregon Supreme Court Justice, Adrienne Nelson and Peggy Maguire, Sr. VP of Corporate Accountability and Performance, Cambia Health Solutions. Afternoon workshops include ceramics, illustration, sun prints, self-defense classes, and wine tasting! We will end the day with a happy hour reception honoring the women featured in Portland Monthly’s May issue feature, Oregon Woman. You can see more about each instructor on our Woman Up! website.

Panel: What Healthy Really Looks Like
A panel discussion with four remarkable wellness entrepreneurs who are breaking stereotypes and body conscious culture by questioning the unattainable, and often unhealthy imagery associated with women’s athleticism.
11 AM – 12:30 PM
Get Out There!
Participate in two 30-minute hands-on group classes, choosing from an amazing list of 10 possibilities: from meditation to dance, self-defense to spin class.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
Keynote: Simply Remarkable
Justice Adrienne Nelson, Oregon’s first black Supreme Court Justice will tell her awe-inspiring story of drive and determination. Raised in Gurdon, Arkansas Nelson became the first black valedictorian of her high school. (Oh yeah, after her mother sued the school district who had decided to give the honor to a lower GPA student, who was white.)

1:30 PM – 3 PM
Breakout: Inspire Your Creativity
Participate in two 30-minute hands-on sessions from pottery to painting, writing lessons, to rock camp (13 different choices available). Find your bliss.
3:15 PM – 4 PM
Panel: Be The Change
A panel discussion by amazing women who’ve started everything from nonprofits to angel investment companies. They’ll tell you how to make your dreams happen and how it will change your life.
4 PM – 4:30 PM
What Money Means to a Whole & Healthy Life
Georgia Lee Hussey, sculptor and founder of Modernist Financial, talks about how to align your spending with your vision and values. “Have a vision. Know your money story. Buy the damn coffee.”
4:30 PM – 6 PM
Happy Hour Reception!
Portland Monthly invites all attendees and past Oregon Woman Issue Honorees to enjoy local wine, hors d’oeuvres and conversations with women who are changing the world.
On Mother’s Day proper, Woman Up! celebrates community, diversity, and health with our Mother’s Day Races and Woman Up! Festival. The races include 5k and 10k options that will take you through Marylhurst University’s beautiful campus and surrounding communities. Time yourself, or take it at your own pace; this is a day all about enjoyment.
Woman Up! weekend is open to everyone, and mothers, daughters, friends, family, and allies of all kinds are encouraged to join in cheering the runners as they cross the finish line. For the kiddos in the crowd, we will have a 100 yard kids dash, with special capes provided by Regence Health Insurance at our Woman Up! Festival. This post-race party will feature local shops, bites, and activations from places like Rock’n Roll Camp for Girls, Theresa Arrison Ceramics, Urbanite, Training Day PDX, Ladies Professional Golf Association, Artemis Catering, Imperfect Produce, Women’s Healthcare Associates, Evelyn & Bobbie, KPTV Fox 12, and a musical lineup curated by Fabi Reyna from She Shreds magazine. The Woman Up! Festival is a free, all-ages event!
