October 6 – 13, 2018 | Keller Auditorium
All performances feature The OBT Orchestra
OBT audiences went wild in 2015 when we presented the final act of Napoli. This October, the powerful story of triumphant young love comes to the stage – in its full U.S. production premiere, and as our season opener.
As iconic in Europe as The Nutcracker, Napoli has been called “an otherworldly romantic adventure” by The New York Times. Choreographed by August Bournonville, Napoli is both a full-length story and classical ballet.
Set in Naples, Italy, the story features a beautiful Italian girl, lost at sea and lured to an underwater world ruled by a sinister sea spirit. Her lover, a poor fisherman, must find her before it’s too late…
Powered by Bournonville’s thrilling yet graceful footwork, this ballet fuses Danish dance and Italian culture with delight. Napoli will charm you and yours!

This December, join us for the 15th annual performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. Set to Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score, Balanchine’s adaptation is playful, exciting, and breathtakingly beautiful.
Join Marie as her toy Nutcracker comes to life, and takes her on a magical adventure: one with an evil Mouse King, swirling snowflakes, and the radiant Sugar Plum Fairy!
In addition to characters known the world over, OBT’s Nutcracker features magnificent scenery and elaborate costumes. Our company is one of only a handful in the nation with the rights to produce Balanchine’s version of this classic.
With young dancers in the wings, ready to perform challenging roles, don’t miss one of Portland’s most beloved holiday traditions. Each season, wonderful new memories are waiting to be made.
