Sake Tasting at Portland Japanese Garden

Food and drinks are a natural path to learning about another culture. In Japan, the intense attention paid to the preparation, consumption, and appreciation of the country’s unique food and beverages has elevated them beyond simple sustenance into an art form. Explore and uncover the art of craft found in Japanese cuisine at Portland Japanese Garden’s upcoming event, Sake Tasting with Joto Sake.

Spend an evening at the Garden connecting with the culture of Japan through its signature beverage. Explore the structure, history, and brewing of a selection of sakes from Japanese microbreweries presented by representatives of Joto Sake. Japanese food pairings will be provided by Noraneko, a popular local Japanese restaurant focusing on ramen.

Event tickets start at $30 for Garden Members. Public Tickets are $45. Garden Members can also purchase a VIP ticket for $50. VIP ticketholders are invited to an exclusive hour of tasting in the Yanai Classroom, which includes a presentation on the history and crafting of sake from 5-6pm. VIP guests will also enjoy tasting of an additional special reserve sake.
