Book Enticing Private Events at Cellar Z

Zupan’s Markets debuts its newly renovated venue space on Burnside.

Presented by Zupan's Markets By Ben McBee August 24, 2020

Cellar Z can accommodate 16 seated guests—or up to 30 people for a standing reception—for intimate gatherings to corporate dinners and everything in between.

When you walk into the Zupan’s on Burnside, you’ll find some of Portland’s best locally sourced food and wine in a welcoming, neighborhood market setting. But beneath the airy and light surface, in the basement, lies a hidden gem that many shoppers don’t know about. While most customers will load up their baskets and take their wares home to enjoy, they now also have the chance to bring family, friends, and colleagues to Cellar Z, the store’s newly renovated private event space.

Although the intimate dining venue was established in 2007, it emerges from recent improvements with even more to offer. Ideal for business lunches and dinners, wine receptions, or celebratory meals, Cellar Z can accommodate 16 seated guests, or up to 30 people for a standing reception. The surrounding walls are stocked with rare and fine vintages that are even better appreciated in RIEDEL crystal stemware. A swanky, elegant vibe permeates every corner, from tasteful center pieces to stylish cutlery and of course the culinary spread—inspired by the 25 years of excellence Mike Zupan has brought to the world of gourmet food.

Chef John Eisenhart in action at Zupan's on Burnside and the brand-new Cellar Z.

With his clean and simple style, Zupan’s Chef John Eisenhart carries on that tradition, employing some of Oregon’s freshest, local ingredients in innovative ways. The grocer’s strong relationships with quality purveyors in the Pacific Northwest and around the globe enable him to transform his menus from season to season. Favorites include seared colossal scallops, handmade fresh pasta dishes, grilled Wagyu steaks, and desserts featuring Portland’s best bakeries. Pair those with some of Zupan’s 2,500 wine labels and you’ve created a gourmet celebration to remember.

Cellar Z is also regularly utilized to host additional events—ideal for food and wine enthusiasts. Wine 101 seminars, winemaker dinners, and cheese pairing classes are held on a monthly basis.

Many of Zupan’s 2,500 wine labels are on display at Cellar Z.

Visitors can take advantage of WiFi, a projector, and audio adapter for music streaming to set the mood. Convenient onsite parking takes the hassle out of traveling into the city.
