Historic Hotel In Lincoln City Gets A Major Facelift And New Name

Back in the early 1960s, a group of independent small towns along the Oregon Coast consisting of Taft, Oceanlake, Delake, Nelscott, and others were incorporated to become the city of Lincoln City. The name Surfland was a close second consideration for the town, but Lincoln City eventually won out. Around the same time, the Nordic Motel in Lincoln City came on to the local scene with their new color televisions, wood-burning fireplaces, indoor swimming pool, and easy strike matches with the slogan “service is our first thought”. 50 years or so later, here we are with the property now dropping the familiar Nordic moniker along with the huge Viking statue that has now been transformed into a surfer dude. It’s now been renamed Surfland Hotel which pays tribute to the name that almost was and the motel that is now an updated modern hotel. Most of the same touches that once made it so successful will continue on but now infused with some surf-inspired vibes.
Location, Location, Location
The fully renovated hotel just opened to the public this April with all the rooms having magnificent oceanfront views. And with so many new amenities available to guests, there’s no need to even leave the property. There’s a new impressive communal seating area with firepits, bocce ball court, pick-up window for drinks & eats, and one of the few hotels in the area to offer direct beach access. This combined with the hotel's off-the-beaten-path location located away from other businesses or busy traffic makes this the perfect location for your next trip down to the coast.
