Portland is probably best known for 2 things. Foremost is the amazing cuisine, wine, cocktails, beer, and all things food and libation. It’s also become a beacon for efficient, sustainable, neighborhood-based living. And the sparkling new Ritz-Carlton Residences, Portland are embracing these two elements to create modern luxury with a reduced environmental impact.

Portland’s extraordinary cuisine, wine, and libations culture have won praise in every category. From food trucks to high-end dining, the endless, globally influenced and locally sourced options have made it a foodie destination. Add the renowned Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs and the hundreds of craft breweries, micro-distillers, and artisan coffee houses, and it’s tough to compete with Portland. So, when The Ritz-Carlton, Portland was hiring an Executive Chef to oversee food and beverage operations and create a unique dining experience in its gorgeous 20th floor Signature Restaurant, it had to be someone extra special. Fortunately, The Ritz-Carlton also has a stellar reputation for fine cuisine, including many award-winning chefs at locations throughout the world. Pulling from within their global team, they landed a true visionary.

Chef Pedro Almeida is a Michelin-starred Executive Chef most recently from Sintra, Portugal. There, he served as head chef of Midori, which under his leadership and vision, became the only Japanese restaurant in Portugal to receive a Michelin star. His love of combining influences will fit right into the Portland culinary community, and add a bright, new global influence. Chef Almeida is looking forward to his new post. “2023 will be an amazing year for me. I plan to reconnect with the classics and consider ways to innovate and refine.” “Having just moved from Portugal to Portland, this year will be about building relationships and discovering the abundance found in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, local farmers, ranchers, and the bounty of the Willamette Valley and the Pacific Ocean. It’s exciting, at all levels, to take the time and rediscover what has been forgotten and soon to share my cuisine with our guests.”

Another thing that Portland is known for is a commitment to sustainable, neighborhood living. The city strives to make it easy to have a car-free lifestyle, with one of the country’s best bike infrastructures, modern and convenient public transportation, and walking neighborhoods in every quadrant. Portlanders are thoughtful about water usage and their carbon footprint.

Living at The Residences makes focusing on neighborhood convenience and sustainability incredibly easy. Here, the only time you’ll need your car is when you want to leave town. Situated in a vibrant neighborhood in downtown Portland, everything you need is within walking distance of The Residences. Organic groceries, high-end shopping, tons of great restaurants, entertainment, professional sports, and cultural attractions, are all nearby. Anything more than a short walk can be accessed by hopping on a streetcar, MAX (Light rail), or bus. The Residences also have tons of secured bike storage for Owners and employees alike, with showers and lockers to encourage bike commuting. Portland’s famous Green Loop passes right by the front door of the building.

This luxury tower’s sustainability features extend beyond going car-free. In pursuing LEED Gold Certification, its state-of-the-art building technology captures rainwater before it flows into the city sewer system and reduces city water consumption by 30% over baseline. The high-tech mechanical systems reduce energy consumption and improve ventilation throughout the building. And all the materials used in its construction are low-emitting (paints, insulation, flooring, etc.) and feature Environmental Product Declarations and Material Ingredient Disclosure reports that promote transparency in their impact.

Owners at The Residences will enjoy the very best of Portland. Their timeless contribution to the cuisine culture, along with sustainable luxury that is convenient and effortless, is why The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Portland represent the future of modern living in the Pacific Northwest.
