Exploring TrapTox: A Trend in Wellness, Mastered by Skin by Lovely
Skin by Lovely has been ahead of this curve, offering this treatment at their four practices for years. With rising public interest, now seems like the perfect moment to shed light on this innovative treatment. Committed to fostering self-love among patients, Skin by Lovely invites you to explore the potential benefits of TrapTox.
What is TrapTox?
TrapTox is a treatment that involves injecting wrinkle relaxers (neuromodulators) such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify® into the upper trapezius muscles with the goal of relieving pain and promoting better posture. While it may not always make headlines, this procedure focuses on enhancing your overall well-being, going beyond mere aesthetics.
"TrapTox offers a holistic approach, providing relief and comfort as well as aesthetic enhancement," says Lovely Laban MSN, GNP-C, Founder and Medical Director.
How Does TrapTox Work?
The process involves the injection of wrinkle relaxers into the trapezius muscle, the muscle between the base of the neck and the top of the shoulder. Relaxation of the trapezius muscles lead to tension and pain relief, as well as an elongated neckline.
Is TrapTox right for me?
If you find yourself slouching your shoulders forward or caving your chest inward, this treatment may be right for you. This treatment is ideal for those who carry tension at the base of their neck, especially after a long day of sitting and working at a computer for example. Your provider can evaluate if this treatment is right for you.
"As someone who raises their arms and elbows all day while treating patients, TrapTox gave me immediate relief in my traps and encouraged me to engage my back and shoulder muscles to correct my posture,” explains Amanda Nahon NP-C.
Benefits of TrapTox
1. Pain Relief: A remedy for chronic neck and shoulder pain that originates in the meaty muscles at the base of the neck.
2. Improved Posture: Encourages proper shoulder, neck, and upper back alignment by relaxing the trapezius muscles and allowing the latissimus dorsi to pull the shoulders down and back. Relaxation of the upper traps also allows for activation of the levator scapulae and rhomboids, our shoulder and scapula stabilizers. Simply put, relaxing the trapezius muscle helps keep posture upright and release tension.
3. Aesthetic Appeal: Lends a more elongated look to the neckline by shrinking the muscle in size.
It's worth noting that the treatment is sometimes referred to as "Barbie Botox," a term not commonly used at Skin by Lovely. "We prefer to steer clear of that terminology as it sets unrealistic beauty standards. TrapTox is about wellness and comfort, not conforming to a particular beauty mold," remarks Clinical Director Rachel Duncan MSN, FNP-C.
