Presented by Portland Cinco de Mayo Fiesta April 9, 2024

The Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) and Treadway Events are ready to host the 37th annual Portland Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, promising three days of vibrant celebration from May 3rd to 5th, 2024, at the scenic Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, Oregon. As the largest multicultural festival in the state, this event is a showcase of the rich cultural tapestry that defines Portland's community spirit.

This year's festival is poised to be an unforgettable experience, running daily from 11:00 am to midnight, offering attendees a packed schedule of entertainment, food, and fun. Highlights include performances by the internationally-acclaimed Mariachi Ciudad de Guadalajara, straight from Mexico, and Oregon's own Ballet Folklórico México en La Piel. In a special collaboration, ten local Mariachi students will share the stage with Mariachi Ciudad de Guadalajara, offering a unique cross-cultural musical experience.

Culinary enthusiasts will delight in the over 30 vendors serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and regional specialties, ensuring an array of flavors to suit every palate. Meanwhile, the Guadalajara Artisan Village will offer a unique shopping experience, featuring handcrafted artworks and artifacts by artisans from Guadalajara to Tonala, Mexico.

The expanded "Plaza de Niño’s" area will provide endless entertainment for families, with cultural crafts, games, activities, and complimentary face painting. For the adventurous, Oregon’s International Reptile Rescue will host an educational exhibit featuring a variety of Mexican wildlife, including iguanas, tortoises, tarantulas, and the rare Gila monster.

But that's not all—attendees can also enjoy the Family Fun Carnival, live music from headlining artists, a Naturalization Ceremony to welcome new citizens, Rip City Boxing, a Premier Tequila Tasting Experience, and the ever-popular Lotería/Bingo Game Booth with fantastic prizes.

With ticket prices set at $12 for adults and children over 13, and $10 for kids aged 6-12 (free admission for kids under 5), the festival is not only an affordable day out but also supports a great cause. As the primary fundraiser for the PGSCA, the festival underpins vital initiatives in arts and culture, humanitarian aid, youth education, economic development, and cross-cultural understanding between Portland and Guadalajara.

Don’t miss out on this unparalleled cultural extravaganza—mark your calendars for Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta and celebrate the enduring friendship and shared heritage of these two great cities.
