Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Book by Hugh Wheeler
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Directed & Choreographed by Chip Miller
Music Direction by DeReau K. Farrar
September 29 - November 3, 2024

This fall, the infamous barber of Fleet Street returns to Portland in a chilling and thrilling production of Sweeney Todd. After 15 years in exile, Sweeney Todd is back in Victorian London, determined to reclaim his life and exact bloody revenge on those who wronged him. With his razors in hand and the cunning Mrs. Lovett by his side, Sweeney slices through the corrupt layers of society, proving that revenge is a dish best served piping hot.

Under the direction and choreography of Chip Miller, and with music direction by DeReau K. Farrar, this rendition of the Sondheim classic promises to be a visceral, unforgettable experience. The tale’s dark humor, unforgettable characters, and haunting score have cemented Sweeney Todd as one of Broadway’s greatest musicals, earning the Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score in 1979.

Time Out New York hailed it as “...the greatest of all Broadway musicals: an epic combination of horror and humor, cynicism and sentiment, melodrama and sophisticated wit—with a central core of grounded, meaty humanity.” Don’t miss your chance to experience this masterpiece like never before.

Liberace & Liza: Holiday at the Mansion (A Tribute)

Directed by Chip Miller, this show is an exhilarating blend of musical performances, glittering costumes, and side-splitting banter. Saffert and Snow embody the spirit of these legendary entertainers, making every moment on stage a feast for the eyes and ears. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to their unique style, this holiday spectacular is sure to become a cherished tradition.

Oregon ArtsWatch raved, “...their comic banter shines as brightly as their glittering outfits. It’s a delight.” Make your holidays even brighter with this unforgettable celebration of music, humor, and joy.

Twelfth Night, Or What You Will

By William Shakespeare
Directed by Marissa Wolf
November 24 – December 22, 2024

Rounding out our fall lineup is Shakespeare’s beloved comedy Twelfth Night, brought to life under the direction of Marissa Wolf. Shipwrecked on the shores of Illyria, Viola believes her twin brother Sebastian is lost at sea. Disguised as a man, she finds herself entangled in a web of mistaken identities, unrequited love, and playful mischief.

This production captures the essence of Shakespeare’s most perfect comedy, where love, laughter, and music abound. The characters’ antics lead to moments of sheer absurdity and heartwarming revelations, all set against the backdrop of Shakespeare’s lyrical prose. Broadway World calls it “Shakespeare’s most perfect comedy,” while The Chicago Sun-Times declares, “It is impossible to overstate the level of ridiculous fun…”

Join us for a night of high spirits, where the joys of love and the follies of human nature are on full display. This Twelfth Night promises to be a delightful romp, filled with the kind of excitement and energy that only Shakespeare can provide.
