Taste, Dance, and Celebrate at Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
For nearly four decades, Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, presented by Toyota and benefiting the Portland Guadalajara Sister-City Association, has been a vibrant tradition. This event brings the community together to celebrate the rich flavors, music, and culture of Portland’s Sister City, Guadalajara, Mexico. But this year, more than ever, the fiesta holds deeper meaning. Beyond being a weekend of celebration, it is a crucial moment to support the Latino-owned businesses, artisans, and vendors who rely on this event each year.
Happening May 2–5, 2025 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the Fiesta will transform the park into a cultural haven filled with the aromas of authentic Mexican food, the sounds of live music, and the vibrant energy of a community celebration.
A Culinary Journey Through Mexico
If you come for one reason, make it the food. With over 30 food vendors, guests can savor the best of traditional Mexican cuisine. From mouthwatering tacos al pastor to sizzling carne asada, savory tamales, and sweet churros, the event is a foodie’s dream. Every bite is a celebration of heritage, prepared by local Latino-owned food vendors who bring authentic flavors to Portland’s culinary scene.
This year, your support goes beyond enjoying delicious dishes. For many vendors, the Fiesta is a vital opportunity to showcase their craft and build their businesses. Attending means more than indulging in tacos and tamales – it’s a chance to directly uplift the hardworking entrepreneurs who help shape Portland’s diverse food culture.
Artisan Craftsmanship on Display
The Guadalajara Artisan Village is another highlight, featuring handcrafted goods and unique treasures. From beautifully woven textiles to vibrant pottery and intricate jewelry, each piece tells a story of culture and tradition. Supporting these artisans–some straight from Guadalajara–means keeping those traditions alive and providing a platform for local Latino creatives to share their work.
Headlining Acts That Bring the Fiesta to Life
Get ready to dance and celebrate with our incredible lineup, including the dance-worthy sounds of Banda Aguila, the vibrant rhythms of El Gran Sabor de Adrian Diaz, and the unforgettable performances of Grupo Mparable and Banda R15 del Korita Gonzalez.
Family Fun at Plaza de Niños
The Fiesta isn’t just about food and crafts. It’s about connection. Families can enjoy Plaza de Niños, offering free kids crafts, face painting, and activities, or take a spin on the carnival rides.
Why Your Visit Matters
While the Fiesta is a time to celebrate, it's also a vital opportunity to support a local community that contributes so much to Portland's cultural landscape. This year, showing up means more than just attending an event. It means supporting Latino-owned small businesses and artists who rely on this moment to thrive.
Whether you're coming for the food, the art, or the dancing, your presence has an impact. Let's make this year's Fiesta the most meaningful one yet.
