Kick off Summer with the Portland Rose Festival

Portland’s biggest celebration is here May 23rd through June 8th.

Presented by Portland Rose Festival May 8, 2025

Every spring, Portland throws a party— and everyone’s invited. The Rose Festival isn’t just a parade and petals, it’s a citywide celebration that brings together families, foodies, thrill-seekers, music lovers, and memory-makers of all ages. From grandparents snapping photos of the Grand Floral Parade to twenty-somethings dancing at CityFair concerts and kids wide-eyed at the Starlight Parade, there’s something for everyone—and every generation.

“It’s inclusive, electric, and unapologetically Portland,” said Marilyn Clint, chief executive officer of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation.

The diversity of Portland is celebrated through more than 120+ multicultural performances and vendors, and community partnerships that reflect the richness of the city. This year, the Rose Festival theme is All Together Now, which recognizes that community, connection, and belonging are for everyone who calls Portland home.

CareOregon Starlight Parade

The CareOregon Starlight Parade on May 31st is one of the Rose Festival's most well-known events, offering electrified, funky fun for everyone. From traditional marching bands and flood-lit floats to glow-in-the-dark umbrellas and unique hand-built entries, you’ll see representation from Portland’s diverse community groups (and the surrounding Pacific Northwest region), creating a vibe like no other.

Grand Floral Parade

This popular procession on June 7th is more than just a spectacular floral-filled parade — it’s a beloved annual tradition. For more than 117 years, Portland families, visitors, and community groups have made memories at the Grand Floral Parade. A colorful reflection of local, regional, and international communities, the parade draws people of all ages and backgrounds.

This year, the parade features an all-downtown route, with traditional large all-floral floats, as well as the popular mini floats that help make it unique! In addition, the Portland Rose Festival has selected Jasmine Murphy and David Hakimoglu as the winning couple of the inaugural Love on Parade wedding celebration, and the couple will get married during the parade.

“The Grand Floral Parade has always been a celebration of Portland’s spirit, and the move this year allows us to showcase that energy right in the heart of downtown,” said Jeremy Emerson, Portland Rose Festival Foundation President. “Whether you’ve been attending for decades or you’re experiencing the parade for the first time, 2025 is going to be a year to remember.”

ADA seating accommodation for the Grand Floral Parade and Starlight Parade is available at Pioneer Courthouse Square, but must be arranged in advance by calling the Rose Festival office.

Fred Meyer Junior Parade

Fun reigns at the Fred Meyer Junior Parade from the moment the lovable Fred Bear cuts the ribbon to the last float that goes down the street. On June 4th, children from all over Portland dress in costume, transform wagons into floats, decorate bikes with colorful flowers, or just parade with friends and family. Elementary and middle school marching bands fill the Hollywood District with song, and dance teams add swirls of color to the celebration. Regardless of how you participate in this pint-sized parade, kids enjoy their moment in the spotlight on Fox 12 Plus live, local television.

Starry Night Wine Walk

Sip, stroll, and shop under the stars! The Starry Night Wine Walk is a delightful evening adventure through downtown Portland, featuring wine, spirits, and beer tastings at select local businesses. With 10 tasting tokens, a commemorative glass, and opportunities to meet regional winemakers, you’ll explore new flavors while supporting the Portland Rose Festival Foundation. Additional tokens are available at the door. Must be 21+. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit.
