Oregonians have a new way to celebrate their love for the coast! Oregon’s Dungeness crab license plate is a bright and bold way to recognize the state’s heritage and support our crabbers who keep Oregon’s coast thriving. The newly introduced plate features a bright orange Oregon Dungeness crab against a light sea blue background and will support one of the area’s most iconic – and delicious – industries.

Introduced by the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission and available for online pre-order, the license plate will move into production once 3,000 pre-orders are received. Nearly 600 plates have been sold to date. Monthly updates will be posted on the Commission’s Facebook page, and real-time sales numbers are available on the Commission’s license plate webpage.

Crystal Adams, executive director of the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, shared, “If you care about Oregon’s coastal economy, putting a Dungeness crab plate on your vehicle is one of the simplest ways to back the state’s top‑earning fishery and help ensure it stays resilient in a changing ocean. Every Oregon Dungeness crab plate is a small fee with a huge return—supporting a fishery that pumps millions into coastal communities while funding the science and stewardship that keep it sustainable.”

In addition to standard title, registration, and plate fees, the Oregon Dungeness crab plate includes a one-time $40 surcharge due at the time of pre-order. Purchasers will receive a confirmation receipt.

Once 3,000 pre-orders are received, production can begin, and purchasers will receive a DMV-valid voucher and be notified of the availability date. Each order includes both front and back plates for one vehicle, and additional customization is also available. For Oregonians who already have a custom plate configuration, those can be transferred to the new crab plate if desired.
