Nowadays cowboys making their way through Portland are far more likely to hop on the MAX light-rail train than a horse, but they’re probably still headed for the Portland Outdoor Store—this country outfitter has been in the same downtown location for 93 years, and it knows Western wear and tack. The store is famous for its cotton, wool, leather, and down clothing, featuring names like Philson, Barbour, Pendleton, Levi Strauss & Co, and Woolrich, but there are also plenty of cowboy and work boots, cowboy hats (Bailey, Stetson, and more), and both English and Western-style riding products, including over 200 saddles.
