PHYSICAL ELEMENT’S fall fashion preview— held April 22 in the Pinnacle Pavillion on the outskirts of the Pearl District—featured the latest in avant-garde fashions from a slew of local and international designers. Two-hundred of Portland’s most fashion-forward filled seats around a catwalk (not to mention a certain Gina Bellman of Leverage in the front row) to watch models stomp the runway in 38 adventurous looks from cosmopolitan Parisian lines Iconoclast and Moloko, body-hugging silhouettes by Spain’s Isabel de Pedro, structural and spare separates by Japan’s Moyuru, and directional pieces from Portland designers Wendi Martin of WeMa, Kate Troyer, and Renee Armstrong (among others.) Styles ranged from austere and modern to playful and vintage-inspired—each accented with hats from Portland master milliner Dayna Pinkham and New York transplant Amy Downs.
