If you haven’t gotten your January issue yet, go out and get it! Why? Because it has an 8 page spread on Ms. Wood, winner of the Portland Fashion Week Emerging Designer Competition. That might be ringing a little bell some where; I sat on the judging panel that selected her, along with Seth Aaron (Project Runway 7), Sue Bonde (head of the fashion programs at Ai), Marjorie Skinner (managing editor for The Mercury) and other talented industry professionals.

Part of the prize title was some face time with moi for an article and photo shoot. Designer Alicia Wood, was kind enough to let us take over her house, bounce around with her children and get hairspray everywhere. You can see the article here, but seeing it in print got me far giddier. I, along with my intern Samantha and senior editor Kasey, managed to take a few clips and snap some pictures of what the craziness looked like. If you like what you see you currently have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor at Ms. Wood. There is an ongoing Kickstarter campaign in effect to help get funding and this could be a chance to really support an up and coming talent (while getting some stylish loot).

Note: Before you get too excited, you should know I threw this video together myself with no video editing training whatsoever. But DIY and low-fi are in right?!
