Make whatever you want after attending classes at The Make House

By Eden Dawn January 18, 2012

Been thinking about designing your own fabric? Or maybe you’ve been wanting to make some custom t-shirts for your trivia team? In our land of DIY, it seems like a requisite for all semi-crafty folks to understand the art of screen-printing.

The Make House on 17th and Alberta is now offering printing classes for the guy or gal interested in the potential to put a bird on anything and everything. Teacher Nathan Reimer dove into the printing world eight years ago and has been teaching for the last five. Not only has he taught everywhere from Brooklyn to Mali, West Africa, you might recognize him as the handsome model in our Falling in Love fashion spread.

There are two classes offered to get you on your way to screen printing success with the next one for beginners filling up now:

Beginning Screen Printing
This class is open to people of every age and no experience is necessary. The class focuses on a light sensitive, photo emulsion process that is the standard of screen-printing today. Working with your own design we highlight different ways of approaching this process and consider how it can be adapted to many uses and applications. We visit all the tools and materials involved in preparing an image for print, coating and burning a screen, and printing a personal image. Students leave with a basic understanding of the silk-screening process as well as their own screen and prints.
Schedule Next class is February 8, 2012 at 6pm
Duration 3.5 hours
Cost $45.00
