Saturday night’s Isaac Hers fashion show fell perfectly on the loveliest day of the year (so far). The pretty people strolled in at a lazy rate after a day of sunning themselves and sipping margaritas (I might be projecting there a little). The first hour was spent bidding on silent auction items benefitting Planned Parenthood and hobnobbing in the vacant warehouse space.

At 8pm, the intros began and then the lights dimmed. The show began with looks assembled with menswear items from The Woodlands. Gingham shirts and fitted jeans had those male models looking just as I’d dress the city myself.

Next up was the debut of the Pino Collection sporting dandy delicious looks for the fashion conscious man. It should be noted however that Pino is a men’s accessory line providing the ties and pocket squares. The clothing was primarily supplied by Brooks Brothers and that mean’s a large portion of the crowd’s cheers actually go to the strength of the styling Pino founder Crispin Argento did. But, as a stylist, I respect that and obviously the crowd loved it.

The next round of looks came from items created from lines carries within the Isaac Hers boutique. It included a sort of retrospective of previous collections from Isaac Hers combined with pieces from designers like Mary Meyer and Maison Scotch.

Finally, the headlining act cued up when the lights went out, fog spilled over the runway and a lone model slowly walked down carrying candlelight. The title of the collection is Chambers and with pieces called things like the "PTSD Leggings" and the "Treatment Tunic", it obviously delves deep to the shadows of the mind for inspiration. The thing I enjoyed most about this collection was the incorporation of geometry into the pieces. The maxi skirts had subtle decorative seaming in triangular points and more than one piece featured (difficult to sew) inlaid color blocked pieces. Thoughtful details like this keep pieces wearable (which Isaac Hers pieces always are) while adding enough interest to make you want to pick them over another similar skirt in a shop.

All in all, another enjoyable show making Portland proud once again.
