Style Icon: Anna Piaggi
The world lost a fashion gem this week.
It’s with a heavy heart we say good-bye to Anna Piaggi this week. The 81-year-old blue-haired style icon passed away at her home in Milan on Tuesday. Known for her eccentric style, the fashion lover contributed to many magazines over her lifetime career including Vogue, Vanity and even penned her own book Fashion Algebra.
In a 2006 exhibit for London’s Victoria and Albert Museum attendees saw further into Piaggi’s deep love of mixing patterns and colors and the museum quoted her as owning a collection of 2865 dresses and 265 pairs of shoes. Let’s hope those are auctioned off into the world for her legacy to carry on. For as Bill Cunningham once said about Piaggi she was, “a fine poet in clothes.”
