A One Day Waxx-a-thon

Local company Urban Waxx raises money for charity with 24 hours of non-stop waxing.

For those of us who willingly sit in a chair and let someone smear hot wax on our bodies and then rip it off (Hey, it beats shaving!), take note. Shannon Conley, founder of Urban Waxx, has envisioned a Waxx-a-thon since she opened the doors, and now the time has come.

To celebrate Urban Waxx's fifth anniversary the local fuzz free team are holding a 24-hour Waxx-a-thon. Beginning at 9am on Saturday, October 6th (and running 24 hours) all wax participants proceeds will benefit two charities: Friends of Trees (to make up for all the wooden sticks needed in the waxing process) and The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

The Urban Waxx crew says they are aiming for a continuous celebratory atmosphere, with coffee and doughnuts given out in the morning, beer and wine in the afternoon, and an appearance by the Koi Fusion food cart from 11am-1pm.  As an additional thank you to their clients for five great years, each hour of the Waxx-a-thon will feature raffle giveaways with fun prizes from local businesses (grand prize is one free year of Brazilians).

Prizes, wine, treats and a part atmosphere? Sounds like that’s how waxing should be all the time.

All of this goes down at the Northwest Portland location which is located at 1036 NW 18th Ave. Portland, OR 9720. For additional details visit the wax-a-thon site.
