Spring Knits from Margaret O'Leary
Irish knitwear designer Margaret O’Leary may have been born in Ireland, but her spring collection (available at Oregon’s only O’Leary boutique in Bridgeport) says California more than Emerald Isle. The collection’s citrus colors and cool crocheted details come from a variety of inspirations according to the designer including “1950’s interior design to Ladurée macaroons and ancient stone carvings.”
O’Leary’s ability to combine multiple inspirations and her knowledge of what yarn is capable of allows her to reinvent her aesthetic each season. Instead of getting trapped in the confines of knitwear as the same recurring Scottie dog sweater Grandma gives you each year for Christmas, O’Leary pushes her pieces by using openwork crochet patterns and interesting twists on the standards to make knitwear something for the young and hip and the classically minded.
This Thursday the designer comes to Oregon for an afternoon of customer appreciation with shoppers. Shop personally with O’Leary for all your holiday goodies while the store supplies you with champagne and cupcakes. Anyone who brings in a gently used Margaret O'Leary sweater to be donated to a local shelter receives 10% off their purchase.
