Project Runway's Love Affair With Portland Continues

She’s at it again. Local gal Michelle Lesniak—who you’ll remember for conquering season 11 of Project Runway (and our hearts)—seems to feel one trophy isn’t enough. In October, Lesniak returns to the small screen to impress us with her draping and tailoring talent as she becomes the second Portland winner to return to tackle Project Runway All Stars. Seth Aaron famously became the first designer to win both a season of Runway and All Stars in January, and if you ask me, Lesniak is poised to become the second.
“PRW is like sewing camp, and who doesn’t like camp?" Lesniak shares with Portland Monthly. "Yes, it is hard being away from family, friends, and home, but my camp-mates are amazing and talented. I bonded with a whole new group of designers and have to say All-Stars is a totally different type of camp. Challenges are harder. Competition is harder. Deadlines are tougher. I definitely got a few new wrinkles that no iron is going to be able to press out!”

Cheer on our talented hometown hero when the show debuts October 30 on Lifetime, alongside other familiar names such as the beloved Chris March, Jay Sario, Dmitry Sholokhov, and Fabio Costa.
Local tip: Before you wave at her on screen, come see her in person at the debut of Lesniak’s spring ’15 collection on Friday, October 15 as part of FashioNXT (purchase tickets here). Lesniak will share the runway that evening with her fellow Runway alums Seth Aaron, Goga by Gordana, and Irina Shabayeva who will undoubtedly—heaven help me, I’m going to say it—make it work.
