Open Season Finale

Adam Arnold takes the fashion masses out to 82nd Avenue for a runway show that got the crowd talking.

Open Season’s finale night was the creation of Adam Arnold. Moved from the original location of Mississippi Studios to the Canton Grill on the corner of Division and 82 Avenue where fashion lovers plunked down at the Formica tables and smushed against the lotto machines in the bar to allow for the makeshift runway to wind through the Chinese restaurant. Male and female models in aviators stumbled out in front of psychedelic screen projections walking in slow, jerky moves in a mix of some of Arnold’s signature tailored pieces, lovely new creations like a floating sleeve, backless bodysuit, alongside more questionable pieces like a puffy star appliqued jacket.

But in typical Arnold nature–he got the crowd conversing. After the show audience reactions ranged from, “It was amazing!” to “I’m pretty sure it was a joke and he’s testing us to see if we get it” to “It’s a commentary on Portland design” to “It’s so refreshing he got us talking.”
