Fade to Light brought fashion and antics to the runway, but what left a lasting impression?

SHEER BLACK

Layers of sheers were present from many of the designers, and as we head into the season of all black, I think the timing was perfect. Designers kicked it up a notch with small detailing, embellishments, and contrasting fabrics. From left to right: Altar, Sara Bergman, and Rogue Minx.

PURPLE REIGN

Bryce Black is a veteran of Fade to Light and knows how to put on a show to bring the house down. His entire womenswear collection in soft shades of lavender strolled the runway while sounds of thunder rolled in and Purple Rain blasted from the speakers. A beautiful collection with equally beautiful showmanship.

ORTHODOX S&M

The Altamont Collection was a collaboration between Altar and Fade to Light producer Elizabeth Mollo taking inspirations from 60s psychedelic rock band Aphrodite’s Child and Greek Orthodox vestments. The result read a little like bondage, a little bit rock, and a little alternative in a cool combo.

BERGMAN'S READY TO WEAR

Sara Bergman continues to grow as a designer showing her most wearable collection yet. With interesting cut outs, easy silhouettes, and comfy fabrics, this is a line that’s for wearing every day.

PDX CARPET?!

The entire collection WWJJD put on the runway had the infamous Portland carpet print from top to bottom sparking massive debate throughout the crowd. Some said it was clearly a sign Portland has jumped the shark, others (like me) think it's a commentary from the designers on the overhyped obsession with the carpet. Regardless, it got folks talking.

THOUGHTFUL STYLING

Props to labels Gunnar Deatherage and Rogue Minx for doing a great job from top to bottom on creating their overall looks. Deatherage with his quirky bird lady librarian vibe, and Minx's boho rock chick came through on all levels.

I LOVE SALSA

The beauty of Fade to Light is the opportunity to do something fun with the traditional runway show. Studio SKB utilized that chance with four dancers tearing it up on the aisles in an impressive display before the debut of her Habana collection.

Last week Fade to Light opened its Pandora Box of shenanigans upon the fashion crowd assembled at the Crystal Ballroom. Visitors were treated to a new, guest-friendly layout allowing for a bigger screen, more seats, and up close action while designers like Sara Bergman and Bryce Black impressed with their detailed collections.
