In the fall of 2014, Myriam Marcela-Dyer popped onto the Portland fashion radar with an effortless ability to tailor with the precision of a surgeon and the taste of seasoned designer. In the last two years, she's continued to grow her line with a series of collections all featuring her signature fit with embellished details and mixed patterns.

Marcela-Dyer’s singular strength is her ability to tell a story through her pieces on the runway. Indeed, her latest collection for the holiday season is based entirely on a 1970s photo of her family at a celebration in Mexico. 

“It was an old picture that has been part of our family for a long time. Grandparents, nine aunts, five uncles, and my mother. I researched their likes and the way they dressed and I did my version of it,” Marcela-Dyer says of the line's slinky satins, printed separates, and to-die-for coats. “I named each piece after them. It has been so special to see it all come together. A mix between prints, shapes, bold solids, texture and intricate detail.”

The lookbook (see slideshow above) recreated the '70s vibes using a family doppelgänger model and Mexican photographer Raúl Sevilla. (Disclosure: As a fan of the collection, I assisted in helping prop out the editorial photos.)
