Rain Check
Well, it’s official. We’ve entered into another “Juneuary”, which, of course, is the much less popular (and polar opposite) cousin to the lingering unseasonal weather pattern known as the Indian Summer.
This unfortunate fact probably also meant that your Memorial Day camping memories are a bit waterlogged. But lucky for you, the state is offering up a rain check of sorts for this weekend.
This Saturday, campers can snag themselves a free campsite at any state park campground. The free-for-all is the part the state’s 13th annual State Parks Day. Discounts don’t include watertight options like yurts and cabins (or horse camps and group sites for that matter), but day use fees are also being waved at the 26 parks charging admission fees (check the complete list here).
Still, I wouldn’t count on the clouds departing anytime soon. But hopefully this weekend, you’ll remember to pack that rain tarp.
