Another whopper of a storm has coated the mountain in the last 24 hours—11 inches at Timberline, ditto over at Meadows. Which begs the question: How do you like your snow? Dry and light? Steep and deep? Well, how about with a side of wax?

Now through November 17, every REI ski and snowboard shop is offering up one free basic hot wax for their members’ skis or snowboards. According to the Portland location, that’ll spare you about $6.00 on your equipment’s seasonal resuscitation.

The savings won’t exactly kick-start a retirement fund. But it’ll sure help shave a few bucks off the price of a Sno-Park permit at the front register while you’re there.
