In Photographing Washington: A Guide to the Natural Landmarks of the Evergreen State, Eugene travel writer and photographer Greg Vaughn brings us stunning photos of our rainy state neighbors to the north. 

The book's 320 pages (230 of which contain full-color photographs) don't solely focus on one or two regions. Instead, Vaughn takes us on a photographic journey from the Salish Sea to the Columbia Plateau and everything in between, offering a guide to the obvious and the–hard–to–spot.

“Think of this book as an illustrated location resource, providing ideas for discovering Washington or expanding on your existing knowledge of the state, helping you to get the best possible photos on your journeys,” writes Vaughn in the introduction.

The book also lists best places to see fall color, best places for wildflowers and which months are best for certain spots (this month, for instance, head to the Olympic coast to see “the beaches take on their winter form”).
