Founded in 2004, Uncage the Soul Productions has created commercials for Adidas and Stella Artois, produced full-length documentaries, and featured video work at TEDxPortland and Mountainfilm in Telluride, CO.  But the Hawthorne Blvd–based company is probably better known for their viral timelapse videos highlight Oregon's most memorable and magnificent locations.

"Our motto is to capture what inspires us and use those moments as examples for the commercial work we're capable of doing," says Ben Canales, videographer and time lapse specialist.

Uncage the Soul works with Travel Oregon to develop short videos promoting the state's outdoor opportunities. "We're just really grateful to live in Oregon and support ourselves doing what we love," says Canales.

We've rounded up three of Uncage the Soul's best Oregon-loving videos, featured below. Keep your eye out for their next Travel Oregon installment, a wintertime odyssey of the state's coast, coming in February 2015 (and check out their Facebook page for a sneak peak!).

From the opening shot of downtown sparkling at night to the closing scene of a sunrise over Hawthorne Bridge, this breathtaking time-lapse video takes viewers to some of Portland's most recognizable and beautiful places. Featuring over 300,000 photos and 50 distinctive locations, Finding Portland was created entirely in only 51 days for a 2012 Portland TEDx event. "Working on such a short schedule really allowed the city to rally around the project and give us access to locations we could have never filmed otherwise," Canales says. This video touches on all aspects of Portland life, showcasing the city's industrial and natural beauties, thriving sports culture centered on the Timbers and Trailblazers, and iconic companies like Voodoo Doughnuts and Powell's City of Books.

Filmed earlier this year, during a short but intense February cold spell, this video treats viewers to a seldom seen glimpse of Oregon's iconic waterfalls frozen over. Featuring music from the film We Bought a Zoo, An Oregon Frozen presents stunning slow motion shots of the state's most beautiful waterfalls, including Multnomah and Silver Falls, the Oneonta Gorge and Eagle Creek. Don't miss the shot at 1:45 of fellow Oregonians capturing the renowned Multnomah Bridge in all its icy instagramable glory with their smart phones.

Journeying to all four corners of the state, Finding Oregon is a stunning compilation of six months worth of time-lapse photography. The team at Uncage the Soul road tripped over 1,600 miles in two weeks to gather material for this video. "We wanted to capture Oregon in its totality, not just the typical locations like Mount Hood," says Canales. The exquisite shots of the night sky heavily featured in this video become even more impressive when you consider that Oregon's cloud cover coupled with the lunar cycles leaves only 15 nights a year suitable for capturing the stars.
