The legend of Sasquatch gained traction in 1924, when a group of miners claimed the ape-like beasts tossed boulders at their cabin near Mount St. Helens. Since then, humans have trekked all over the mountain seeking evidence of the elusive Bigfoot. This June, instead of following cryptozoologists and shaky-handed photographers on a wild goose chase, take 'er easy and toast the lofty legend with at the 12th Annual Sasquatch Brew Fest in Eugene.

With more than 75 craft beers from 60 Northwest breweries—including Base Camp, Gigantic, Double Mountain, and Hop Valley—Sasquatch crams just about every brew fest allure into one glorious Saturday. Ten dollars buys you entry to the “Fermentation District,” a collectible glass, two tasting tickets (additional tastes are just $1), and live music from an impressive lineup, including the hard-swingin’ Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and the Muddy Award–winning Hank Shreve Band. Bid in the silent auction—the proceeds of which go towards providing scholarships to budding brewers—and await the home brewer’s competition verdict for Best in Show, which will be available for tasting.

The Sasquatch Brew Fest commemorates the loss of local brewing hero Glen Falconer, a man who believed that beer culture created valuable relationships. “The festival will revolve around the beer, music, and bonding with a community of revelers with cheers to an awesome gentleman, who made us all aware that ‘beer is love,’” says Northwest Legends Foundation president Steve Ditmar. To honor Falconer’s memory, the festival will serve an annual “legacy” beer created by the previous year’s scholarship recipients; this year’s is a Session Dark Wheat IPA crafted by Sandi Shriver from Kona Brewing, Acacia Cooper from Anderson Valley, and Joel Shields of Rogue. And if one day isn’t quite enough, head down early for Friday’s Beer Dinner, hosted by Brandon Lang of Falling Sky Brewing Pourhouse & Delicatessen.
