The Sou'wester Lodge has a new garden spa and Finnish spa—and winter is the perfect time to make use of it.

Located a quarter-mile from the beach, Sou'Wester Lodge is a cozy cluster of a dozen 1950s-era trailers. Last October, the lodge added the sauna, built from Clear Western cedar and hand-milled Port Orford cedar and seating up to 7 people, along with an outdoor garden spa featuring a cold plunge, foot bath, wooden benches, and a fire pit.

"We really wanted to incoporate health and wellness into what we offer here and elevate the whole experience of camping to a resort-like setting," says owner Thandi Rosenbaum.

"The coast is so beautiful. In the winter, especially, it’s such a great complement to be able to warm your bones. It allows people to be more adventurous and really experience the beauty here," says Rosenbaum. "Tourists come here in the summer, but people who love the Pacific Northwest seem to enjoy the winter."

The lodge will also debut a line of custom spa products, made by one of the resort's artists in resident.

"It’s going to be growing," adds Rosenbaum. "It’s a garden and it’s predominately conceived as an outdoor space."

Spa hours are 8am-11pm. For more information, visit souwesterlodge.com.
