If you haven’t made your way to the Siuslaw National Forest, now you have the perfect excuse.
The USDA Forest Service announced today that fees for any federal recreation day use site will be waived on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 18, 2016). There will still be fees required for any state-owned lands, but parks like Crater Lake National Park and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area are included.
Several other holidays 2016 will have waived federal park fees, too, so start planning ahead:
- President’s Day, February 15
- National Get Outdoors Day, June 11
- National Public Lands Day, September 24
- Veteran’s Day, November 11
