We’re Such a Catch.

Come hither, ye media suitors…

By Sam Holder May 19, 2009

Portland may need to take out a restraining order against The New York Times_. Yeah, we’re cool and all, but honestly, we recommend they take a cold shower. Consider Portland’s "pos–mens"ta.shtml (Any 30 Rock fans out there? Anyone?) in the Times in last four months: Frugal Portland and Portland Biking and Alberta Street and The Nines and…well, you get the idea.

But it’s time for the NYT to play second–fiddle. We’ve decided to get cozy with PBS instead:

Blueprint America: Road to the Future, a documentary that examines the infrastucture crisis, is set to be released on May 20th at 8 P.M., on national channels and on OPB here in Oregon. The documentary examines and applauds three cities—Portland, Denver, and New York City—for their successful implementation of alternative transportation used to curb excessive, Houston–like sprawl. This release follows closely on the heels of PBS’s May 10th documentary —a celebration of Portland’s strict (and controversial) urban boundary policies.

We hate to write a "Dear John" letter to the esteemed editors at the Times, but we’re ready for a new media romance with the folks at Public Broadcasting.

(We’re just joshin’, NYT; we’d be happy to have you any time.)
