Paul Bearer noun

A functionary, underling, or factotum responsible for delivering bad news on behalf of billionaire Blazers owner Paul Allen.

Necessary to the function of Allen’s empire, due to his busy schedule of secluding himself on his megayacht. In a sentence: “Rich Cho didn’t know he was done as Blazers GM until Larry Miller showed up to act as Paul bearer.” Related terms: “casting a Paul,” “absolutely a-Pauling behavior.”
