The Portland Modern Home Tour is next Saturday, March 9, and for one lucky lover of Modern architecture, we've got a pair of free tickets. Even if you don't love modernism, you're welcome to enter the contest, but you might not be as hep to the cool houses that will be open for touring Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

There are nine houses on the tour, ranging from a 1950 John Dukehart house (recently remodeled by Patrick O'Neill of Greenline Fine Woodworking; read about it here) to several newer homes built during the past year or two, both multi-and single-family. 

It seems any tour focusing on Modernism has to include a Rummer house, and so it's no surprise that a late entry to the tour is a pristine Rummer located in Beaverton. While our area boasts many Rummers (the equivalent of the common classic Eichler houses built in California), this one looks to be a certifiable time capsule house. (Or that's how Retro Renovation, the website hub of appreciation for mid-century modernism, might describe it, and I'm inclined to agree.) Owner Jeffrey Wiseman has it furnished with period pieces from its 1966 era.

Tickets to the Modern Home Tour are $30 in advance (until 8:00 pm on Friday, March 8), $40 the day of the tour. But roll the dice, enter the contest, and go mod for free. The contest is open until end of the business day (5 p.m.) Wednesday, March 6, 2013. CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
