This Friday, the Allison, the wine-country luxury hotel that attracts oenophiles from around the world and spa-goers from around the state—and where rooms will usually run you about four Benjamin Franklins—invites locals to enjoy an evening out for a mere $25 with the Cuvée Stroll. The event is a fundraiser for ¡Salud!, a collaboration between winemakers and health care providers that offers services to vineyard workers and their families. Visitors can sample offerings from such wineries as Bergström, Chapter 24, and Domaine Drouhin Oregon, plus non-wine treats from Briar Rose Creamery, Jacobsen Salt, Portland’s Raven and Rose, and more. To book a spot for the Stroll, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the Stroll, this weekend’s special chardonnay-pairing dinners bring in Portland’s Vitaly Paley (Friday) and Seattle’s Holly Smith (Saturday) as collaborating chefs. Reservations for the dinner can be made by calling Jory, the Allison’s restaurant, at 503-554-2526. Saturday afternoon, the Allison also hosts a seminar and grand tasting for the annual Oregon Chardonnay Celebration.
The accessible Cuvée Stroll makes a good close-to-town date night, but it’s also an excuse for non-high-rollers to get a gander at the Allison. Warning: the visit might cause you to start saving up for a special-occasion overnight. That’s what happened to your humble correspondents—check out our review here.
