The Perfect Party: January 2011

Teri Barichello, DMD The 38-year-old, Oregon City–based president of the Oregon Dental Association orchestrated a day of gratis tooth care at the convention center in November. Teri, thanks for brightening so many grins. Could you bring a few of those brand-new toothbrushes you people always hand out?
Captain Bogg & Salty Arrr! Remember when pirates were bigger than zombies? Two members of the old-salt local “pirate band”—known to the King’s Men as Kevin Hendrickson and Loren Hoskins—will supply shanties for Disney’s new animated, Captain Hook–hooked series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, which debuts this month. Pour the grog!
Lisbeth Goddik We hereby assign Dr. Goddik appetizer duty. The Oregon State dairy specialist will be the first to hold a new professorship of cheese endowed by former Sunshine Dairy president Paul Arbuthnot and his wife, Sandra. Goddik plans to launch an on-campus artisan-cheese operation. Lisbeth, we’d like pecorino, please.
Brennan Scarlett The Ducks’ national-title bid wasn’t winter’s only rosy gridiron news. Scarlett, an imposing (six-foot-four! 245 pounds!) Central Catholic linebacker with a sterling academic record, was picked for the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, a top showcase for college-ball recruits. Brennan, if you commit to an Oregon school, you can have that fifth helping of dessert.
Tamma Carleton This Lewis & Clark College alumna rounds out our guest list as one of 32 US students tabbed for a Rhodes Scholarship. She’ll use the Oxford ride to pursue a master’s in the “economics of development and environmental change.” Tamma, you make the dismal science less dismal. Pint of porter?
