Pete Krebs Update

As you may recall from my post last week, veteran Portland musician Pete Krebs is facing an uncertain future after being diagnosed with Desmoplastic Melanoma, a rare form of cancer. The response on his payitsquare.com page has been nothing short of amazing, with over $32,000 in contributions pledged thus far. To further the campaign, Pete's comrades from the local music community have plans for a pair of fundraising concerts next week.
The first, Swing for Pete at the Secret Society Ballroom, will feature performances by Stolen Sweets (one of the many bands that counts Pete as a member), Midnight Serenaders, Everything's Jake, Swingtime PDX, Jenny Finn Orchestra, and other exemplary groups from Portland's jump, jazz, 'n' jive contingent.
The very next night at the Wonder Ballroom is Rock for Pete, a slightly louder, though no less sincere soiree, in which Black Prairie, Colin Meloy (you've pretty much got the Decemberists, right there), Sean Croghan, the Dharma Bums, Casey Neill, and Lewi Longmire will work up a sweat on behalf of their beleaguered buddy. I should think given the tight bond between these groups, that some very interesting musical combinations will materialize. Call it a hunch.
Here's Pete getting his jazz on with the Stolen Sweets.
