Warm up from the inside out at the 18th annual Holiday Ale Festival (Dec 4–8) at Pioneer Courthouse Square. If you prefer grapes to hops, sample six rare and vintage Krug wines at Ambonnay Champagne Bar (Dec 14) while learning from a wine educator. Bike commuters can keep the holiday calorie binge going at Breakfast on the Bridges (Dec 27), with free coffee and pastries on the Steel Bridge.

Ever wonder what 250 tubas playing in unison sound like? The 23rd annual Tuba Christmas Concert (Dec 14) is a good place to start. Then switch over to your inner 26-year-old at the annual SantaCon (Dec 7), the legendary, costumed pub crawl starting at the old White Stag sign. Or, for a seasonal expedition that might be a little more appropriate for the kids, hop on the Christmas Train along the Willamette River (weekends from Nov 29)

Get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions at the Holiday Run (Dec 15), or just do it for the hot chocolate, warm food, and seasonal beer luring you to the finish line. Sprint into 2014 at the First Run & Walk (Dec 31), a midnight 5k through downtown.
