Reese Witherspoon Needs Her 'Wild' Danner Boots

For the upcoming film Wild, producers asked local boot company Danner to outfit Witherspoon with a very special shoe.

The film has yet to be released in theaters, but Wild is already a hit. The Cheryl Strayed biopic about the Portlander’s 1,100 mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail has Oscar buzz humming for star Reese Witherspoon (read more on that in our On The Town piece).

But her co-star, or rather pair of co-stars, hasn’t gotten quite the same attention, but they should. We’re talking about the custom boots Danner made for the production. To stay as accurate to the piece as possible, producers contacted the shoemakers to recreate their hiking boot from 1995 when Strayed set off on her adventure. The company released this video to walk through the process of bringing back the Mountain Light Cascade boot (which you can also see in our fall fashion feature here).

Take a few minutes to appreciate the importance of shoes in life and cinema, and snag a pair of the sturdy tan boots—complete with a sew-on patch featuring an image of Oregon’s Mt. Hood and the Pacific Crest Trail mile marker 2,096—for yourself or an outdoor enthusiast on your holiday shopping list.
