The dream of the 90s really is alive in Portland—for indie-rock heads at least. The first quarter of 2015 will bring us new music from the city's three biggest 90s/00s bands: first Sleater-Kinney and The Decemberists on January 20, and now Modest Mouse on March 3. 

From 1996 to 2007, Modest Mouse steadily released music every three years, but they've been rather quiet since We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Not to say they stopped working; they cancelled an international tour in 2013 to focus on the forthcoming record. 

That album is Strangers To Ourselves. It was announced via the band's first Instagram post last Monday in the form of a picture of a record with a hand-scrawled title. The records were then sent to select fans with a note (see below) and the first single, "Lampshades On Fire." The song has been in their touring repertoir for years.

Offering a now-classic blend of bouncy and cynical, Isaac Brock bawls out, "Well, the lampshade's on fire/ When the lights go out/ This is what I really call a party now/ Well, fear makes us really, really run around/ But this one's done so where to now?"
