If you saw an unusual amount of people wandering around Portland in costume this past weekend, rest assured: Halloween has not come early. Rather, they were likely en route to the fourth annual Rose City Comic Con at Portland's Convention Center. We walked in among the throngs of attendees (with upwards of 30,000 expected this year), many of whom were in expert-level cosplay (see the slideshow above). As for the Con? Lively, fun and super safe—thanks, in part, to a strict no-harassment policy and signs posted everywhere. A cosplay extravaganza, with panels, programs, and parties, and all for the bargain price of $50. Take that San Diego!
