That sonorous wail you've heard echoing through the Willamette Valley? It's the Portland Monthly staff's reaction to news that Carol Burnett is coming to Portland next month.

Sorta Lock a Rock Star, adapted from Matthew Quick's novel of the same name, shoots in Portland throughout October and November; in addition to Burnett, it will star virtual unknown Fred Armisen and Auli'i Carvalho (the voice of Moana). According to a post on Portland casting agency Weeble Mountain's Facebook page, calls for extras are currently open.

Pay is $12.50/hour with an 8 hour guaranteed minimum, and while that's not much, it is crucial to remember how close the experience could bring you to Carol fucking Burnett. Interested parties under 18 can head here, and anyone 18 and over can head here.

The film, a Netflix original with a currently-unknown release date, tells the story of a teenage girl who "faces a devastating loss and can no longer ignore the challenges in her own life," per a release from Weeble Mountain. FYI: Matthew Quick also wrote Silver Linings Playbook, which went on to become the film that netted Jennifer Lawrence her Oscar, and when Sorta Like a Rock Star was released in 2010, Publishers Weekly said it was "nearly impossible to remain unmoved" while reading.

Armisen Oscar incoming.
