PREMIERE: Logan Lynn Releases Gucci-Clad, Blood-Soaked Video for New Single "Rich and Beautiful"

What's better than this: Gucci track suits, money guns, lamps straight from A Clockwork Orange.

We’ve all had to cancel big plans this year, but how about this one: before the pandemic, Logan Lynn was supposed to be a Gucci model. The Italian fashion house shipped the Portland musician a treasure trove of headbands, athleisure, and accessories this spring, to be worn in a magazine campaign that COVID eventually nixed. Left in the lurch, Lynn ended up with piles of beautiful clothes and nowhere to wear them. (Perhaps not, in the scheme of things, the end of the world. But still.)
Luckily for the clothes, Lynn has joined the scores of musicians producing projects in quarantine, working with frequent collaborator Gino Mari on a new record—his first since 2018—scheduled for sometime next year. The album’s first single, “Rich and Beautiful,” officially drops at 9 p.m. tonight, and Portland Monthly is premiering the accompanying music video, featuring Lynn, his dog Pretty Baby, some digital blood ... and a whole lot of Gucci.
The clip is directed by Josué Rivas, who also helmed Portugal. The Man’s latest, Weird Al-starring video. Rivas and a two-person camera team came directly to Lynn’s home—whose Kubrick-meets-Warhol interior was designed by famed decorator Jonathan Adler—for a COVID-safe two day shoot, and the result is a blast. Opening with drone footage of the Portland skyline, we follow Lynn as he gets dressed, vapes, makes breakfast, shoots money out of guns, and stomps through his insanely beautiful house to Mari's twinkling synths.
Not to be lost in the shuffle: "Rich and Beautiful" arrives with Lynn's fuzzy, digitized cover of Liz Phair's "Fuck and Run" (this writer's perennial shower song) as a B-side, and that track will also appear on the upcoming record.
