Portland Monthly’s Beer n’ Burgers

Portland Monthly’s annual summer competition continues the search for the best burgers in the city.

Here’s another beer-tastic event to pencil into your Beer Week planner: Portland Monthly’s annual Beer n’ Burgers event is back, Saturday August 20th. This event gives the people what they want: namely, a big ol’ plate of burgers, plenty of beer, and the opportunity to play food critic for a day.

Try out your best Top Chef impression at this parking lot party with seven brewpub sliders from local chefs, and select the best of the bunch to be crowned the weekend’s Burger Champion. It’s all going down from noon to 3 pm at the Hollywood Fred Meyer (3030 NE Weidler), and you’ll be able to wash down those burgers with tastings of ten local beers. Participating breweries include Alameda Brewhouse, BridgePort Brewery, Buckman Brewery, Burnside Brewing Co, Deschutes Brewery, Full Sail Brewing Co, Henry’s Tavern, Laurelwood Brewing Co, Ninkasi Brewing, and Widmer Brothers Brewing.

This year, Portland Monthly teams up with Fred Meyer to sponsor the bash that will reel in donations for Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. 100% of net proceeds will go directly to their Summer Meals Program that helps provide funds for organizations to serve meals to low-income children during the summer.

Tickets to the event are just $17 (with a five buck discount for a burgers-only ticket) and can be purchased here. Get them before they’re gone!
