Tasty n Sons 2.0 Coming to the West End

Next in the wave of John Gorham news: the lauded chef of Toro Bravo and Tasty n Sons has announced plans to open a downtown location of the Tasty brand, dubbed Tasty n Alder. The new space will sit pretty on the corner of Southwest Alder and 12th in the burgeoning West End, and is slated for an early 2013 opening.
Since he opened the first Tasty n Sons location on North Williams, Gorham set the bar for internationally-inspired small plate brunch, nearly instantaneously becoming a staple in the competitive a.m. eatery scene. It's reported to be Bon Appetit restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton's fave breakfast joint in Portland, and long lines of devoted diners return week after week.
With Tasty n Alder, Gorham (along with chef Kyle Prewitt of Tasty 1.0) will bring along brunch menu favorites with a new spin on dinner, heralding steakhouse meat-centricity and an extensive German beer program (inspired by Gorham's German grandfather). This news comes on the heels of word that Gorham has parted ways with Interurban, the North Mississippi tavern he helped open in December of 2011, to focus on writing the Toro Bravo Cookbook: The Making, Breaking and Riding of a Bull (with local author Liz Crain, out fall 2013) and expanding his remaining brands.
Stay tuned for more Tasty n Alder information as it rolls in.
