Ecotrust will serve up sausage, kraut, pretzels, and beer as they announce the winners of their 2013 Local Hero Award.

A Place at the Table Screening at Hollywood Theater

What: A film that explores why 50 million people in the U.S.—one in four children—don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine this important issue through the lens of three people who are struggling with food insecurity.
When: Now through March 21 at 7:20 pm
Where: Hollywood Theater at 4122 NE Sandy Boulevard
How Much: $7 general admission, $5 students, children, and seniors 65+

Ecotrust Local Hero Award Ceremony

What: A benefit for Ecotrust's food and farming initiatives, including the best handcrafted local sausages (from Bent Brick, Laurelhurst Market, Olympic Provisions and more), pretzels from Fressen Artisan Bakery, kraut from Olykraut and Picklopolis, beers from Breakside, Fort George, Heater Allen, Hopworks, and Ninkasi, and the announcement of Ectotrust's 2013 Local Hero Award winners. 
When: Thursday, March 21 from 7 to 10 pm
Where: Ecotrust Building at 721 NW 9th Ave
How Much: $32 per person, including all food and drink. Tickets available online.

Paley's Place Anniversary Dinner with Scott Ketterman's Crown Paella

What: Next up in a series of intimate dinners featuring several prominent Portland chefs who honed their skills at Paley's Place (or simply sought advice from Paley) is Scott Ketterman of Crown Paella and Pastry Chef Kristen Murray. Dinner will include Moorish-spiced lamb shoulder with chermoula and squid ink and gnocchi “Paella” with chorizo, Dungeness crab, squid, rabbit, and saffron hollandaise.
When: Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 pm
Where: Paley's Place at 1204 NW 21st Ave
How Much: $125 for 5 courses with wine pairing and gratuity included. Reservations can be made online.

Bluehour's Ruinart Champagne Dinner

What: Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the oldest Champagne house in the world, and will be releasing its champagnes in the United States on a limited basis. Bluehour's chef Dolan Lane will host a four course dinner in L’Heure Bleue, the private room at Bluehour, to celebrate the release of these coveted wines.
When: Friday, March 22 at 6:30 pm

Dining in the Dark at Winderlea

What: A culinary celebration of Earth Hour, in which hundreds of millions of people, businesses and governments around the world unite each year to raise awareness of sustainability issues... starting with switching off their lights for one hour. Winderlea Winery is doing their part by hosting a ‘Dining in the Dark’ dinner, during which the darkness will highlight sensory experiences associated with eating and drinking. In the spirit of the evening, the four course menu from chef Paul Losch will not be released in advance.
When: Saturday, March 23 at 7 pm
Where: Winderlea’s Tasting Room at 8905 NE Worden Hill Road in Dundee.
How Much: $95 per person, all inclusive.

19th Annual Portland Spring Beer and Wine Fest

What: One of Portland’s original beer festivals! More and 100 local craft beers, spirits, and wines will be available for sampling in addition to tables of specialty cheese, chocolate, a global shopping marketplace, cooking demonstrations, and live music featuring Northwest bands. The festival will partner with the Portland chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association to send kids who are battling neuromuscular diseases to summer camp.
When: Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 from noon to 11 pm
Where: Oregon Convention Center at 777 NE MLK Jr. Blvd.
How Much: Tasting packages start at $20. Admission is free to the first 500 guests on Friday, March 29. Minors accompanied by an adult are permitted until 7 pm each day, and admission for children ages 12 and younger is free.

Portland Farmhouse and Wile Ale Festival

What: A new beer festival featuring over 30 farmhouse and wild ales from across the country, from brewers who have embraced the styles of Saison, Biere de Garde, and Brettanamyoces-inflected beers which vary from light to strong, earthy, spicy, fruity and funky tart. During the festival Saraveza will be offering a special “Farmhouse Cheese Plate” put together by Steve Jones of Cheese Bar as well a food special or two that will pair well with the beers.
When: Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 beginning at 1 pm
Where: Saraveza 1004 N Killingsworth St 
How Much: $20, including a commemorative Farmhouse Festival glass and 10 drink tickets good for a 4 oz sample of beer (some beers are more expensive and cost 2 tickets per sample). Tickets can be purchased online.
