Portland-based meat distributor Nicky USA has been supplying specialty meats and game to local restaurants for more than twenty years. This month, they announced the expansion of their locally-raised specialty products to New Seasons markets, which will stock the Nicky Farms line for daring omnivores.

Nicky USA President Geoff Latham calls the expansion a response to “more adventurous” home cooks who are craving something beyond the standard beef, chicken and pork options at deli counters. Nicky Farms is poised to meet this growing demand with the inclusion of rabbit, pekin duck, venison, goat, elk, wild boar, emu, and many other specialty meats and game at New Seasons locations, where the products are currently available in the freezer section, and will hopefully appear behind the meat counter soon.

In addition to raising and supplying meat to Pacific Northwest restaurants (and now, home cooks) Nicky USA also hosts Wild About Game—an annual event celebrating sustainably raised specialty meat and game. The festival, scheduled for September 7, will feature a head-to-head cooking competition, artisan marketplace, and the farmers, butchers, and retailers who make specialty meats accessible to the public. It's one of our favorite food festivals of the year—trust us, you don't want to miss it!
