Meet (and Meat) with Tom Mylan and Rancher Cory Carman
What: Author of the book The Meat Hook Meat Book, Tom Mylan, is visiting Portland to discuss his new book and demo some of his recipes of what he feels are the overlooked and under-appreciated cuts of beef. He’ll also offer grilling advice with the help of Wallowa rancher Cory Carman.
When: Saturday, June 28, 4-6 pm.

Bees 101 with Red Ridge Farms
What: Learn bee basics with Damian Magista of Bee Local. Damian will be teaching us about the bee hierarchy, what bees do and how they do it. Participants will next visit the hives most recently installed on the property and take part in a tasting of the different honeys, finishing with some honey-inspired bites and Durant Vineyards 2013 Pinot Gris.

Benefit Meal for James Beard Public Market at Ava Gene’s
What: The James Beard Public Market will partner with Ava Gene’s restaurant to host a benefit event for the market. This special occasion will feature a passionately seasonal, market-driven menu that highlights the finest, freshest local produce and meats grown and raised by Pacific Northwest farmers and ranchers. The menu will be paired with superb Oregon wines from The Eyrie Vineyards. The proceeds from the event will benefit The James Beard Public Market, a community led effort to build a daily, year-round public market on Portland’s waterfront.
