Brunch at Cocotte

“Wild Things” Beer Dinner

What: Bummed about the members-only access to the Craft Brewer’s Conference? Partake in the beer festivities with a beer dinner hosted by Imperial and Imbibe magazine. Top Chef alum and Imperial chef Doug Adams will pair rare beer releases, including one brewed with wild yeasts, with a four-course menu of kielbasa and braised elk shank.

Le Pigeon Beer Pairing Flights

What: Another way to take advantage of the Craft Brewers Conference, Le Pigeon is offering beer pairings (pairings are usually wine) to accompany their five or seven course chefs tasting menu by two-time James Beard Award winning chef Gabriel Rucker.                                                            
When: April 13–19

Austrian Wine Dinner at Gruner

What: Celebrate Austrian grapes with two of the region’s most celebrated winemakers. This two-part dinner series will feature unique Austrian wines paired with a special 4-course meal, each narrated by the actual winemakers. The first dinner highlights Winegut Paul Achs winery with an all red selection (Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt, and St. Laurent), while the second pairs with Winegut Malat winery with an all white wine tasting (Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling).

Merit Badge Cocktail Pop-Up, hosted by Bunk Sandwiches

What: Merit Badge, a local craft cocktail catering company, will be shaking and stirring their signature, locally-informed drinks at the original Bunk Sandwiches location on SE Morrison. 
When: Thursday, April 16, 6–9 pm

Plaza del Toro

What: An open-house launch party of John Gorham’s newest venture: the 4,000 square-foot Plaza del Toro, a self-described “gastronomic society, private event space, and modern test kitchen.” Plaza del Toro will be an events space for special collaboration dinners, weekly prix-fixe brunches, and parties. At the launch event, enjoy bites from all four Gorham-owned restaurants, drinks, and music by DJ Waffle.

Food Photography Workshop

What: 
Ned Ludd’s Elder Hall is hosting a two-day workshop for food-styling and photography. You’ll be lead by industry experts Stu Mullenberg and Ashley Marti as they dive into everything from equipment basics to using artificial and natural light.
When: Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, 9 am to 3 pm

How Much: $400.  Price includes coffee, tea, and snacks in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon. Register online.

Honey Brunch at Cocotte

What: Cocotte is partnering with the soon-to-open Seastar Bakery to host a honey-inspired brunch special event. This sweet collaboration centers on honey from Old Blue Raw Honey paired with seasonal ingredients to create a buzz-worthy menu. Four courses include honey-cured and roasted bacon, grilled halloumi with honeycomb candy, and brunch cocktails featuring meads from Nectar Creek.
When: Sunday, April 19 at 9:30 am

Poutine for the People

What: A weeklong multi-restaurant celebration of Canada’s favorite comfort food. Seven poutine-loving eateries include Laurelhurst Market (pork shoulder, mozzarella curd, English peas), Smokehouse Tavern (pulled pork, Beechers curds, smoked pork gravy), and the PDX O.G., Potato Champion. All proceeds go to cancer research at the Providence Research Center.
